Short answer: Cyprus is one of the most affordable ways for Indian students to study in a European Union country. Our partner colleges accept IELTS from 4.0 bands (PTE 43) for foundation programmes and IELTS 5.0 (PTE 58) for many Bachelor's and Master's programmes. Students can work up to 20 hours a week during term in approved sectors, and mature students and applicants with long study gaps can apply. The student permit is issued by Cyprus's Civil Registry and Migration Department, and every case is decided on its own documents.

Cyprus study visa success: Niranjan Singh from Moga
Congratulations to Niranjan Singh from Moga, Punjab, who received his Cyprus study visa for a Bachelor's in Hospitality Management at InterNapa College in Ayia Napa. InterNapa College holds institutional accreditation from the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA), recorded on the European EQAR register.
Why study in Cyprus? 8 reasons Indian students choose it
- An EU country on a lower budget: tuition at private colleges and living costs are usually lower than in Western Europe. Your counsellor shares the exact fee for your college and programme.
- Low IELTS or PTE scores accepted: at our partner colleges, foundation programmes accept IELTS 4.0 or PTE 43, and many Bachelor's and Master's programmes accept IELTS 5.0 or PTE 58. Requirements vary by college and programme.
- Work while you study: students with a valid permit can work up to 20 hours a week during term in approved sectors such as hotels, restaurants, retail, cleaning, delivery, agriculture and care. The contract must be approved by the Cyprus Department of Labour.
- Practical, career-focused courses: hospitality, tourism, culinary arts, business and IT programmes combine classroom learning with hands-on training. Hotel and catering students can do practical training in the summer season.
- Mature students welcome: our partner colleges consider applicants up to about 40 years old. We recently helped a student with an 18-year study gap get his Cyprus visa. A gap must be explained with work or other documents.
- Simple admission: many partner colleges admit students on their documents without a formal admission interview. Some programmes may ask for a short online interview, and you should be ready if the immigration authority asks for one.
- English-taught programmes in an English-friendly country, with a large international student community.
- A stepping stone in Europe: Cyprus is an EU member. It is not yet part of the Schengen area; Cyprus says it expects to join fully in 2027. A Cyprus student permit lets you live and study in Cyprus, not work or settle in other EU countries.
IELTS and PTE requirements for Cyprus (partner colleges)
- Foundation programmes: IELTS 4.0 overall or PTE 43.
- Bachelor's and Master's programmes: IELTS 5.0 overall or PTE 58.
- Scores below these levels, or other English proof, are sometimes considered with an English test or course at the college. Ask your counsellor for your programme.

- Renewal: the student permit is issued for one year and renewed each year while you study full time. Apply for renewal one month before it expires.
